The NY Times again made the blunder of failing to read the fine print, again. As we noted there was an aberrant jump of more than 400 cases in one day in Montville, NJ. If they wondered why they should have read the County site which said:
Montville's increase in cases is due to lab error and will need further investigation.
This was a quadrupling of the number of cases in one day and a tripling of the County rate in one day. Thus the Times statement:
Morris County is at an extremely high risk level.
is clearly false. This is an ongoing example of the gross incompetence in my opinion of the press. When something does not make sense, check it out.
The basic dictum of science and even medicine is "Trust no one" always check for yourself. And if something looks strange then it may very well be wrong, or you may have just won a Nobel Prize. Usually the former.
