I'm From the Government and here to Help You

 The oft quoted phrase is well posed regarding the FDA. The NY Times bemoans:

People familiar with the F.D.A.’s planning say that regulators are now racing to complete the required paperwork that goes with the authorization, including a fact sheet and information for physicians. The timing of the announcement appears unlikely to speed up the shipment of the initial doses of the vaccine, the people said, raising questions about the purpose of expediting the authorization.

 My father always said: Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.

Clearly there was no material change after the Board approval so all the docs should have been prepared beforehand. Perhaps the folks at the FDA wanted a long weekend instead. After-all they get paid by us taxpayers whether they get it done Friday or Monday. Just more people may die due to the delay.

For those of us who have spent our career in a competitive environment of the real world this delay was unforgivable. If this had been China..........
