Benjamin Franklin Would be Unhappy

The USPS is collapsing under gross incompetence. They are just behind AMTRAK and NJ Transit. The Postal Service now refuses to deliver the mail and demand that you cart yourself down to the Post Office, mask on, gloves attached, stand six feet apart, and wait your turn. To add insult to injury they send you a note saying you did not answer your door bell when they tried to deliver. Prevarication seems to be a common practice in Government employees.

I am reminded of the old Soviet Union, where the lowest Government employee, the KGB Key Lady in a hotel had more power than any other person. They kepi watch on you, heard your every word, reported daily to Headquarters.

The store shelves were empty, your mail opened, never delivered, packages missing, and the police bribed on every occasion.

Local Party Bosses felt they had power to say and do whatever they wanted and the law had become a meaningless fig leaf.

Sound familiar. Just wait, perhaps we are going in that direction.
