Tricolore vs Facemask

The adoption of the three ringed badge, tricolor, during the French Revolution was worn by Citizens following the dictates of the new group in charge. It could mean life or death depending on wore one have affronted with the absence of the badge. Perhaps the Facemask will soon acquire the same mantra. Perhaps those not adhering to the Robespierre like dictates could face the same approbation. Just a brief thought for the day.

The NY Times has apiece that reads right onto this theme. The author uses the paradigm of the mask as a dividing line between political factions. The author ends with:

In other words, the pandemic has become another example of Trump’s mastery over his most loyal subjects, his ability to manipulate them into violating their own instincts. It is this power over a substantial bloc of the electorate that has put him in the White House — and continues to make him so dangerous.

Regrettably this is in my opinion just the author's opinion. Masks may take care of 15-20% of the risk. The real risk based upon a detailed review of some 1,800 papers is hand to face transmission. No one wears gloves. So forget the mask, forget the tricolor, wear the gloves, and stop touching your face! Political differences be damned.
