NEJM published the article above about a China Virus. It was their words not mine. They noted:
In December 2019, a cluster of patients with pneumonia of unknown cause was linked to a seafood wholesale market in Wuhan, China. A previously unknown betacoronavirus was discovered through the use of unbiased sequencing in samples from patients with pneumonia. Human airway epithelial cells were used to isolate a novel coronavirus, named 2019-nCoV, which formed a clade within the subgenus sarbecovirus, Orthocoronavirinae subfamily. Different from both MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV, 2019-nCoV is the seventh member of the family of coronaviruses that infect humans. Enhanced surveillance and further investigation are ongoing
In reading this then I had the uncomfortable feeling that the proverbial was hitting the fan. By February 4, 2020, I called it a pandemic. Clearly we had warning, we had the Spanish Flu example, we had multiple other examples in my own lifetime from Polio to HIV. Strangely the man in the Government at the time of HIV, still around, seemed to fumble then as he does now. But to anyone with the slightest understanding of a virus and pandemics, I remember my grandmother's comments on the Spanish Flu, hairs should have been going up on people's heads.
Needless to say then then President was occupied with his first impeachment but we have thousands of public employees and an equal number of academics who lay dormant! This article screamed pandemic. One does not even have to read behind the lines.
Now that we have multiple vaccines we still have to deal with a massive collection of grossly incompetent State officials who give vaccines to "smokers" in their 20s, so they can go out and party again, even if they do not smoke.
When the history of this event is written I hope they are not kind to those who were grossly ignorant and unresponsive.
